Games

Here are some of the games we made as part of various competitions we took part in the past. We hope you have fun.

WarGods

The game was developed by Andrei Petrov during the three week competition Game Making Deathmatch 2004. The competition’s theme was “Deadly traps of outer space.” Wargods came in second out of 31 participant teams.

Idea: Set a trap and let your opponent orbit into it. It is a multiplayer only game (played on the same computer).

Installation notes:

  1. Optional: In “Wargods” folder there is a “font” folder. In this font folder there is an archive containing “Zamolxis II.ttf”. Please unrar the font in c:\windows\fonts. This step is not required, but it makes the game look nicer.
  2. Install .net framework 1.1 DirectX 9.0c from the Microsoft website.
  3. Turn your speakers on (stereo is nice).
  4. Turn your Num Lock on
  5. Run “WarGods.exe”

Death Gate

The game was developed by Andrei Petrov during the three week competition Game Making Deathmatch 2005. The competition’s theme was “Dimensional Disturbances.” Death Gate came in seventh out of 30 participant teams.

Idea: From a game design perspective, Death Gate is a relatively simple side scroller. However, from a software development perspective, I considered this game to be a technological masterpiece.

Installation notes:

  1. Simply Run “DeathGate.exe”
  2. Note: The game is developed in Managed DirectX. Unfortunately Managed DirectX is not supported by Microsoft anymore, and the game does not run on many computers. I am currently working on porting the game to XNA.

Promotion

Promotion was developed by Andrei Petrov and Ante Bralic with Matt Hammill’s help in two days time during TOJam 2007.

Idea: Only “dumb” people get promoted. Thus in order to become the boss, you must keep your IQ on the low side. You have a chance of doing so, by avoiding trainning an entire week.

Tower of Alchemy

Tower of Alchemy was completed in the fall of 2007 for CSC490 at University of Toronto. It was developed by a team of four: Andrei Petrov, Ante Bralic, Daniel Steger, and Susahosh Rahman. The game was recognized as the most impressive demo by the class. All the art was developed by the team. The music in the video is ripped from Price of Persia Soundtrack and is composed by Stuart Chatwood.
